Mother daughter session with Rennae & her amazing girls.

This is the 3rd session in our inspiration series of photography sessions where we focus on a person or family that has undergone a traumatic or transformative event and has emerged with a story to tell which we hope will inspire others. We were heart broken when we read Rennae’s story and we felt that we had to gift her a free session to give her beautiful images that will forever be important to her.
This week we had the privilege of photographing Rennae & her 3 beautiful girls, Yvette, Monique & Josephine. After years of trauma and stress, Rennae felt it was now time for her little family to have some professional photographs done for the first time after little Monique was badly and nearly fatally burnt in an accident 2 years ago. We loved photographing this strong little family and documenting this milestone in their life, and, what a brave and positive little girl Monique is.
This is Rennae’s story.
I’m a single mum and this is a very brief version of my story:
2 years ago, I almost lost my daughter. She was staying at her dads when she was badly burnt. She was treated in hospital but her condition kept deteriorating. Her little heart and lungs stopped working and she was put on life support.
After many sleepless nights next to her hospital bed, I watched her start to improve. She is now doing great (although still in a pressure suit). We still have regular hospital visits every couple of months, but her personality and determination is incredible.
I was pregnant at the time of her accident and our whole life was just put on hold and thrown upside down, and we’re only now finding balance again. I’m not sure how I managed a new born baby with everything that was going on, but I somehow got through it on my own and now have 3 beautiful, happy girls.
I’d like to draw a line in the sand and acknowledge that all the stress and heartache is behind us, and we are all a little stronger from it. When I heard of your inspiration series, I thought what better way to mark the occasion than with a photo shoot of my little family as we are now (me and my three princesses).
